Sunlighten and Clearlight are two of the most-searched infrared sauna brands in the US, with about 11,000 and 9,500 monthly searches respectively. Comparing their flagship two-person cabins, the Sunlighten Amplify II and the Clearlight Sanctuary 2, comes down to a clear trade-off as of October 2026: Sunlighten runs about 25°F hotter, while Clearlight has the stronger long-term reliability record and warranty.

Heat: Sunlighten wins clearly

The Sunlighten Amplify II is the hottest 120V infrared cabin we found. An owner reports a steady 165–168°F, even after opening the door mid-session. Halogen full-spectrum heaters drive the air temperature up, and the front heaters are angled toward you when seated.

The Clearlight Sanctuary 2 runs cooler. Clearlight doesn’t publish a maximum, and owners typically see around 140°F. One owner of Clearlight’s Premier model reached 142°F after two hours of preheating, and another said it heated more slowly than expected. An owner who used both says they “like the Sunlighten significantly more”, citing heater placement and the Sanctuary’s door gap, which lets cool air in.

Reliability: Clearlight wins clearly

Clearlight’s owner record is the strongest of any infrared brand we researched. Owners report 4, 5, 6 and 7 years of reliable use at two to three sessions a week. One six-year Sanctuary 2 owner says a failed heater was replaced “immediately”. Clearlight holds 4.4/5 on Trustpilot from about 1,695 reviews.

Sunlighten’s record is more mixed. It has 4.6/5 from about 4,080 Trustpilot reviews, but a vocal group of owners report heater panels, power boxes or control screens failing, and slow repairs. See our Sunlighten Amplify II review for details.

Warranty

  • Clearlight: limited lifetime residential warranty on heaters, electrical and wood. Owners note replacement parts are shipped for you or an electrician to fit.
  • Sunlighten Amplify II: 7 years on cabinet and heaters, 3 years on controls, 1 year on stereo.

Price

As of October 2026, the Amplify II lists at about $5,800–$6,000 and the Sanctuary 2 at about $7,000–$8,000. Sunlighten is the better value on paper. Clearlight’s price buys the warranty and track record.

Technology

Neither brand gets top marks for software. Several Clearlight owners report remote start failing after a router change or a few years. One got a new power supply mailed free, and another had a technician sent twice. An Amplify II owner reports finicky Bluetooth audio. Pay for heat and build, not apps.

Which should you buy?

  • Choose Sunlighten if you love intense heat and want the best price for a premium cabin.
  • Choose Clearlight if you want the best odds of a decade or more without problems, and gentler heat suits you.

A note on our recommendations: Clearlight’s affiliate program excludes its saunas, so we don’t earn a commission on the Sanctuary 2. We’ve included it here because it belongs in any honest Sunlighten comparison.
